Directions:

• Choose a calm time for teeth brushing when your pet is relaxed
• When your dog is comfortable, touch the teeth and gums without the brush first to get your dog used the feeling.
• Apply a small amount of the Beaphar toothpaste on to your dog’s toothbrush and allow them to taste it
• Touch the toothbrush to the teeth; front, side and back on the top and bottom.
• Praise and reward your dog for tolerating this step without getting them too excitable.
• Brush the teeth with soft, circular and sweeping movements. Praise your dog when they allow you to do this.
• Praise, reward and repeat each day to get them used to the process.

It is an unnatural feeling for dogs to have their teeth brushed. It should be made a positive experience and so frequently praise your dog.

Brushing three times a week is the minimum recommendation. Only use toothpaste that is specifically for dogs as human toothpaste can contain ingredients that are toxic to dogs.
